Application Procedure —
General Guidelines

If you fulfil our criteria, we invite you participate in the Presentation Ceremony 2009. Please follow the application guidelines below.

  1. Applicant should complete an appropriate online application form: (1) International, (2) Regional, (3) National, (4) Local, or (5) Social Service awards. For group awards, please apply just ONE time by your team representative.

    • Classification of awards —

      1. international: competitions involving 3 or more countries
      2. regional: competitions involving 3 or more regions
      3. national: competitions involving at least half of the total provinces, or of very significant / representative status
      4. local: competitions in Hong Kong only
      5. social service: individual or group social service projects in Hong Kong, Mainland China or overseas


  2. All information provided must be true and accurate.

  3. Your provision of data requested in the form is obligatory.

  4. You are advised to make a hardcopy of the completed application for your own reference.

  5. Please pay attention to the following items when completing the form:

    • Please fill in both English and Chinese names for the competition, project, award and your name(s).

    • If the name of the award is only available in one of the langauges, please provide the name in the other language according to your best translation.

    • If you have received more than 5 prizes, you have to shortlist the top 5 outstanding achievements. Criteria you may consider:

      • scale and recognition of the competition / project
      • your achievement in the competition / project
      • awards of different nature to showcase your multiple interest and strengths; or awards of the same nature to demonstrate your outstanding achievement in one particular field
      • relevance to your career objective

  6. After you have submitted the application form through the Internet, an email will be sent back to you to acknowledge receipt of your application by 6 April. It will notify whether or not you are eligible to take part in the Ceremony as an Awardee and advise you what you have to do next.

  7. If your application is accepted, you should:

    • Provide copies of transcript / diplomas / certificates or other qualification documentary proofs for verification as soon as possible and before 31 March, 2009. The documents should be sent by hand or mail to:

    • Send 3 to 5 relevant photos (e.g. photos of you receiving the award or taking part in the competition) by one of the following means. Please note that the photos will be shown during the Presentation Ceremony and in other publications and exhibitions as we see fit. Hard copies will not be returned to you. The resolution of the photos should be at least 1600×1280.

      • Softcopy: by email to cedars@hku.hk, subject of the email as “Prize Presentation Ceremony 2009”
      • Hardcopy or CD Rom: by post or by hand to the address above

    • Awardees should provide complete information about the competition, awards and proof of awards. Otherwise, the organizer may have the right to reject the application.
  8. CEDARS will review the information provided by applicants and have the final decision to accept or reject your applications.
