Local Language Internship Programme for Non-Chinese Students
Local Language Internship Programme for Non-Cantonese Speaking Students
非華語學生本地實習計劃 2024
Overview
The Local Language Internship Programme for Non-Cantonese Speaking Students (the Programme) aims at boosting the Chinese language proficiency of non-Cantonese speaking students (including local non-Chinese students and mainland students who can communicate in Cantonese) and equipping them with desirable working attitude and skills through a 6-week local language internship in the summer of 2024.
Each student will be placed at one of the partnered local NGOs / social enterprises to perform duties fully utilising their Chinese literacy and initiate language / cultural programmes in Cantonese for local citizens and the community. Upon the completion of the Programme, students will be able to enhance their abilities in written Chinese and spoken Cantonese through a wide array of opportunities to use the language practically in the workplace. Students will also cooperate closely with staff of the local collaborators or other participating students during the Programme, allowing them to experience the work life in a social service agency setting, develop positive working attitude and enhance their career competency.
Internship Period: 10 June - 19 July 2024, 44 hours / week (working on shift may be required.)
