Student Travel Loan

Interest free loans are available to local students studying for a full-time degree programme who need financial support to take part in overseas field trips, exchange programmes, practicum and other overseas travels relating to their academic studies.

Eligibility:

  • Loans are means-tested. Level of awards depends on nature and costs of the programme and applicants' family financial circumstances
  • Normal range of support: 
    • For exchange programme: HK$5,500 - HK$29,000 
    • For other travels: HK$3,000 - HK$11,000 
    • There are extra loan fund for Engineering (UG) students taking part in summer training outside Hong Kong
  • Programme should have the support from Department/Faculty
  • Priority goes to those without other source of university support and who have successfully applied for the Government TSFS scheme

Application Procedures:
  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Call CEDARS at 3917 2305 for an appointment to meet a student advising officer for assessment of your needs.
  3. Bring along your completed application forms and all the relevant supporting documents on the day of the interview. You should be able to provide details of the dates/duration and estimated expenses of the overseas trip/programmes as well as your own budgeting plan at the time of the interview.
  4. You should apply to CEDARS at least 14 working days prior to your departure.
