It’s another new academic year at HKU!  Being one of the essential elements of your campus experience, let us share what is on about campus catering. 

1. New Outlets and Food Choices Coming Your Way!

We are excited to share with you the opening of several revamped and rebranded eateries on campus!  A couple of these are still working in progress.  Please stay tuned! 

^ The current interim F&B services in the Assembly Hall (A-hall Kiosk) located at 6 Sassoon Road would be terminated immediately following the opening of the Kiosk by Sandwich Club.  The F&B offering of the new kiosk would be enhanced based on the current offering of the A-hall Kiosk.

2. Order Online, Skip the Line!

Maximize your time efficiency on campus by ordering food online! You can now order, pay, and collect your meal from various campus eateries. Some eateries feature self-ordering kiosks, allowing you to pre-select the desired items on your mobile device and pay swiftly. Visit this one-stop page to access various food ordering platforms and give them a try!  More outlets will launch online ordering initiative soon.  

3. Student Access Code via HKU App 

The University has newly launched the HKU Student Access Code (“Access Code”) for new students who have yet to receive their physical HKU Student Registration Card (“Student Card”). You need to use the Access Code to access various campus facilities, including campus eateries where you'll need to present your Student Card or Access Code at the self-ordering kiosks for identification. Download and log into the official HKU App to obtain your Access Code (requires HKU Portal Login).    

4. Vending Service 

For a quick snack while on campus or working late, check out the vending machines located around the campus and at two strategic spots: Vending Hub at G/F Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre and Vending Nook at G/F Composite Building. Apart from the usual snacks and drinks, filling options such as hot bento and rice dumpling are also available, perfect for satisfying your hunger on the go! 

5. Explore Eateries in HKU Neighborhood

Food is a gateway to socializing and experiencing distinct cultures. HKU campus is closely located near the vibrant downtown Shek Tong Tsui, Kennedy Town, and Sai Ying Pun, where the local community resides. Take the opportunity to delve into the city's culinary offerings. To make your exploration easier, we've pinned some eateries and shops where HKUers used to visit at times.  Click and access the food map (Google Map) and start exploring the neighborhood! Try them out!

Menu Price Adjustment of Campus Catering Outlets (2024/25)

Please be informed that the University has received the price adjustment proposals from a number of campus catering outlets, and has reviewed and approved the adjustment based on prescribed mechanism according to the catering agreement. The adjusted menu price of the respective outlets will be effective throughout August 2024.

1.  Award of Contracts

As a result of an open tender exercise which was conducted earlier in May 2024, we are delighted to inform you about the award of contracts for the operation of the following catering facilities on campus.  

The renovation and mobilization of the respective facilities would be carried out until late August 2024. Apart from Shop G01 of Composite Building (OORI HANSIK Korean Food Outlet), the other three facilities are tentatively set to have their operations commencing in around late August 2024.

2.  Temporary closure of Starbucks Coffee (Composite Building)

The coffee shop located at Shop G03, G/F Composite Building, currently operated by Starbucks Coffee, would be temporarily closed for renovation during the period from August 1 to August 27. The closing hour of the shop would be slightly advanced to 6:00p.m. on July 31. The coffee shop with new image is tentatively set to reopen on August 28, 2024 (Wednesday).

Update on other campus catering operations would be announced in due course. Stay tuned! 

As the catering contract with U-Deli, located at Shop G02, Composite Building, Main Campus, comes to an end on 30 June 2024, we regret to inform you that their last day of business will be on 27 June 2024 (Thursday). The premises will undergo renovation during the summer, with a new operation tentatively set to commence in late August 2024, just before the semester begins. Further announcements regarding the new operation will be made in due course.

Let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to the U Deli team for their unwavering passion, dedication, and valuable contribution as a social enterprise employing people with disabilities in serving the campus community over the past decade. Your presence will be greatly missed!

Further to our earlier announcement on catering services in May 2024, please be informed that the interim catering services at the Sassoon Road Assembly Hall (6 Sassoon Road), namely “A-Hall Kiosk”, will commence operation on 11 June 2024 (Tuesday). The “A-Hall Kiosk” is operated by The Sandwich Club Limited, offering hot meals and light bites.  Below are the operation details of the kiosk for your reference.

Welcome back to Semester 2!  We would like to share with you new initiatives that would enhance your campus catering experience.

1. Additional Seating Space to Mingle
   You can enjoy your take-away lunch in the following places! Be considerate, please clean up after yourself and remove any trash for the next user.  

2. New Vending Hubs
   New vending provisions with hot bento, rice dumpling, snacks and drinks, etc.
   (Note: operation of some machines are pending)

3. New Entrance to CYM Canteen
   The entrance to CYM Canteen from 4/F Chong Yuet Ming Cultural Centre (CYMCC) had been reopened! You can now purchase meal tickets & enter the canteen from 4/F CYMCC without needing to go through the balcony entrance.

4. Mobile Ordering at Campus Eateries
