Adversity: Surfer gets stronger

Adversity is indeed inevitable in our every day life. You either suffer from it, or you surf amid the turmoil and get stronger. Your ability to handle adverse situations is therefore a key to success in your future endeavor. In this workshop, you will:

  1. Understand the impact of your thoughts over your feeling during hardship,
  2. Explore how strong you are in face of adversity,
  3. Learn ways to enhance your coping in adverse situation,
  4. Identify the importance of hope amid adversity

“Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.” ~Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha. Do come and prepare yourself to surf amid possible turmoil.

Adversity: Navigating the Currents of Communication

Have these thoughts ever crossed your mind?

  1. Your friends have gotten job offers while you are still searching hard with little hope of good prospects…
  2. Your parents have expectations of you after you graduate but you are unsure if you could meet their expectations…

Stress does not JUST come from within us but also from people around us. Peer pressure, familial expectations and other such things are stressors that are beyond your control. Equip yourself with effective, thought-out communication skills that enable you to create a mutual understanding to get your message across.

Through this practical and interactive workshop, learn how to

  1. Interact and handle pressure from peers;
  2. Communicate with your parents or other family members to manage expectations;

Develop the communicator in you and see where a simple art could open avenues in times of adversity.

“Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing.”

— Rollo May (1909–1904), American psychologist
