April 2013 |
Dear Students and Colleagues, HKU Catering: Interruption of Catering Services at Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre (CYMAC) Restaurants The University has been planning a new auditorium at the Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre for some years. As the two catering outlets at the Amenities Centre will be very much affected; the whole of the CYMAC Restaurant Outlet B (viz. current Oliver’s Super Sandwiches site) and part of the CYMAC Restaurant Outlet A (viz. current Maxim’s Food^2 site) would be demolished, the current contracts of Oliver’s and Maxim’s have been extended twice since 2012 to the end of May, 2013, to cope with the actual commencement of the work required. It is now finalized that the construction work will be commencing from June 2013, and it will take about two years for completion of the construction; i.e.by Summer 2015. Therefore, the catering services at both restaurants will end after the last day of service on May 31, 2013. At the same time, the trimmed CYMAC Restaurant Outlet A (to be renamed as CYMAC Restaurant) will be renovated during the summer break and targeted for re-opening by end of August 2013, before the commencement of the new academic year. In the meantime, a Tendering Exercise has been conducted for the selection of a new operator for the CYMAC Restaurant and the selection process is still in progress. Please stay tuned to further update from CEDARS on this restaurant. Due to the interruption of catering services in the CYMAC, special arrangement has been made with the operator of the Fong Shu Chuen Amenities Centre Restaurant to keep the restaurant opened during summer in order to maintain sufficient provision of catering services in the Main Campus. Updates of other catering operations on the Main Campus, Centennial Campus and the Sassoon Road Campus will be made in due course! Thank you for your attention. |

HKU Catering: Centennial Campus Catering Outlet A Dear Students and Colleagues, CEDARS would like to give an update on the latest development for the provision of catering services at the Centennial Campus Catering Outlet A. You may be aware that the University has previously awarded the contract for the operation of Outlet A to Pasta Di Mio Ltd. in the open tender exercise back in February 2012. According to the plan, the mentioned outlet should have been opened in November 2012. However, it is very unfortunate that the caterer informed of their decision to pull out from this project due to their management decision. Despite of further negotiation with the caterer shortly after the University had been informed of their decision, we failed to keep them to stay and operate Outlet A. Therefore, the University has no other option but to call for a new tender exercise in January 2013 for the selection of a new operator. The University Working Group on Tendering Exercises is now working on this matter and it is anticipated that the outlet would be in operation in around July 2013 if the selection process goes smooth. CEDARS will keep you posted on the results of the selection nearer the time. Should you have any query regarding the above arrangement, please free feel to contact the Catering Manager at 2859 2285 or email catering@cedars.hku.hk. Please accept our apology for all the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your attention. |
