“We want to take up the initiative to contribute to the society.”

Jasmine and her zealous teammates innovated a new app called “Vera”, which uses deep learning algorithms and AI technology to provide affordable and immediate speech disorder diagnosis for children. This first-ever technology also gives treatment to patients through interactive games and personalised exercises. “We think the ability to speak is really crucial as it helps people to express their own thoughts and ideas. We discovered that speech therapy services in Hong Kong are expensive. Hence, we want to help children who are born in low-income families and suffer from speech sound disorders to get accessible diagnosis and treatment. We want to take up the initiative to contribute to the society and raise the awareness of the issue,” said Jasmine.

Jasmine thought one of the factors for their success is collaboration.

Through the exhilarating journey, Jasmine has learnt a valuable lesson. “The project has given me the chance to apply the knowledge I had acquired and I could benefit the society,” Jasmine expressed. She also thought one of the factors for their success is collaboration. “I could never do everything by myself. My team members are from various disciplines and we applied different fields of knowledge to achieve a common goal. I am so thankful to have Jodie Chan and Tratik Dixit as my teammates.”
