GE2018-51
HKU Herb Garden (Since 2018)
The Herb Garden, located outside the 2/F entrance of the Main Library, is a new space to promote sustainable living and human-nature connection. The garden, which opened on the Earth Day 2018, was set up by students under the guidance of permaculture practitioners as part of a GE course, using up-cycled materials such as old bamboo from the flower market. This project hopes to nurture a community that shares similar concern about health, the environment and our future, as well as to spark off more creative and sustainable use of campus space and resources.
This project is co-organised by the General Education team of CEDARS and the Sustainability Office.
Volunteer farmers and gardeners
Students and staff members are welcome to join as volunteer farmers and gardeners after completing a farming related programme organised by GE. To find out more about the projects, please join the Rooftop Farm's Monthly Community Day or the Herb Garden’s Wednesday Chill.
