Most students may think a corresponding academic major is required for each specific career field, this is not true! Obviously, some career choices dictate that you choose a specific major. If you want to be a nurse, you must major in nursing. However, most career fields don't require a specific major. HKU provides a conducive environment to nurture and develop your potentials and skills which can be applied in different functions. All majors develop core sets of skills that are transferable to a wide variety of career areas. The important thing to consider is whether or not your personal profile matches the job specifications. Come to hear how other graduates succeeded in matching themselves with jobs that are outside their own field of studies and learn how they prepared themselves for their dream jobs.

Speakers:

  • Mr Leo Chan, BA (majored in Geography), Business Development Manager, Shanghai Tang
  • Ms Michelle Chung, BSC (Comp Sc), Brand Manager, P&G
  • Mr. Gary Ko, LLB, Assistant Manager, Product Promotion, Trade Development Council
  • Ms Wendy Lau, BSc (Surv), Manager, Corporate Treasury Advisory, Global Market, HSBC
